European Parliament · 10 October 2019
The 2021-2027 multiannual financial framework and own resources: time to meet citizens’ expectations
Adopted
426 in favour · 163 against · 67 abstained. 656 members voted.
What it asks for, in the Parliament's words
- Regrets the outrageous increase in the EU’s administrative expenditure, which also fails to take into account the economic difficulties experienced in several Member States
- Stresses that no EU institution is entitled to collect taxes from national taxpayers
- Recalls the fact that the Member States are responsible for their own fiscal policies and stresses that the power to levy taxes lies at the heart of the Member States’ sovereignty
