Cohesion policy: promoting innovative and smart transformation and regional ICT connectivity
Adopted
644 in favour · 9 against · 43 abstained. 696 members voted.
What it asks for, in the Parliament's words
- Urges the Commission and the Member States to make swifter progress with the digitalisation of public services including schools, universities, research institutes, public transport, e-government and efficient administration
- Considers that empowering citizens, consulting the relevant stakeholders and involving local authorities are pivotal to both the proper planning and successful implementation of regional digital strategies
- Stresses that there are two sides to the digital divide: infrastructure and capacity, that their origins are different, and that different policies must be applied to them and tailored to their respective features
