Commission’s 2021 Rule of Law Report
Adopted
429 in favour · 131 against · 34 abstained. 594 members voted.
What it asks for, in the Parliament's words
- Calls on the EU institutions to read the annual Rule of Law Report in the light of the fundamental rights report in view of the close connection between democracy, the rule of law and fundamental rights
- Welcomes the annual Rule of Law Report as a key element and positive addition to the EU’s rule of law toolbox for promoting improvements and preventing and addressing rule of law issues in the Member States
- Considers that a new separate chapter on the Union’s institutions, which would assess the situation in relation to separation of powers, accountability and checks and balances, would be desirable
