Adopted
357 in favour · 179 against · 97 abstained. 633 members voted.
What it asks for, in the Parliament's words
- Calls on developing countries to upgrade their regional cooperation, developing or adopting common environmental, social and labour standards and norms for the extractive industries sector
- Calls on the Commission to ensure that while facilitating investments, there is no race to the bottom in subsidies in partner countries, leading to a lowering of ILO and environmental standards
- Calls on the EU to encourage trading partners to also promote sustainable resource management in their trade and investment relations, through cooperation in international forums and the sharing of best practices
